Description

Ammonium nitrate is a widely used nitrogen fertilizer and oxidizing agent. For agricultural use it supplies readily available nitrogen to crops; technical grades are used in industrial formulations and manufacturing under strict regulatory controls. It must be stored and handled carefully to avoid moisture uptake and mixing with incompatible materials.

Packaging & Shipping

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area on pallets, away from sources of heat and incompatible materials (e.g., fuels, organic matter, ammonium salts mixed with chlorides). Protect from moisture.

Hazards: risk of fire amplification, decomposition when contaminated, and in extreme cases explosion under confinement/contamination.

PPE: Use gloves, eye protection, and dust mask where dust generation occurs.

First aid: In case of inhalation, move to fresh air. For contact with eyes/skin, rinse with water and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
